An energized start to the new tourism year

16.11.2017

The January Travel Fair traditionally kicks off the new tourism year. The S-Group Hotels sales team was present during the fair professional days. At the same time, we were able to pick up the latest travel trends.

According to the Travel Fair holiday travel forecast, the demand for short-haul flights is growing and the importance of sustainability in the choice of travel destinations is increasingly emphasized. As for hotels as well as event venues, the experience-theme is a focal point.

Our hotel selection includes numerous unique destinations for domestic holidays. Part of our hotels have become a destination in itself. We strongly believe this will be case also for the new Solo Sokos Hotel Turku Seurahuone which is to open in Turku at the beginning of 2019.

The hotel classic designed by renowned Turku architects in the 1920s will with the current revamping be brought straight to the modern 2020s, while preserving the beautiful Classicism design. The hotel, located in the heart of Turku, will feature a street-level urban food- and social restaurant, and easily convertible restaurant facilities on the second floor. Guests will be pampered by quality beds, a sauna, gym and the best breakfast in Turku.

Sokos Hotels start serving a Special Diets breakfast

Our latest sustainability act is the development of the Sokos Hotels Special Diets breakfast. In the future, Sokos Hotel’s breakfast selection makes it even easier to assemble a gluten-free, vegan, egg- and milk-free breakfast. The specialty breakfast range includes gluten-free corn flakes, bread, porridge and muesli, oat- and soy products, vegan cheeses and spreads, and vegan vegetable patties.

New event facilities in the capital area hotels

Sokos Hotels have added on new experience-themed venues. The Original Sokos Hotel Presidentti’s 350-seat auditorium will in the future also serve as a movie theater. The Cinema Pressa, designed for corporate events, features a wide range of Finnish and foreign films, which can be viewed privately, even before the premieres. You have a choice of booking the entire cinema or buy individual tickets for corporate events. The movie night is complemented by the Original Sokos Hotel Presidentti’s quality restaurant services.

The Break Sokos Hotel Flamingo in Vantaa, located in Finland’s biggest entertainment center, will in the autumn of 2018 receive a new, large banquet- and event space. The stunning glass-walled space can host car shows, fashion shows and cocktail events.

During the Winter Olympics, the sporting spirit is at its peak. The Olympic fever continues at the South Korean Paralympic Winter Games in March. We will be rooting for Santeri Kiiveri, chosen alpine Skier of the Year in 2017, who is the Sokos Hotels sponsored athlete, and competing in as many as four different alpine sports at the Pyeongchang Paralympic Games! This collaboration also forms a part of our sustainability work.

With wishes for a successful year and a sunny late winter,

Petri Isomäki, Vice President Sales, SOK Corporation, Travel & Hospitality Industry Chain Management
